“Change Your Mind…”
“If you want to be somebody else,
If you’re tired of fighting battles with yourself,
If you want to be somebody else,
Change your mind…”
Sister Hazel
I heard this song on the radio when it was first released, but I didn’t pay it too much attention. Then one day, my teenage daughter said, “There’s a Sister Hazel song that sounds just like the gospel you continually preach. Listen to it, and you’ll love it.”
So I did. I listened to it carefully, and I googled the lyrics. My daughter was absolutely correct.
Those of you familiar with my work know that I believe and teach this: the only way to change anything in your life is to change your thoughts - and the only way to change everything in your life is to change your thoughts.
Are there things in your life that need changing? Do you long for more happiness? More abundance? More passion for living? More satisfaction? More success?
It all begins by changing your thinking.
That’s the basis of my teaching in ‘Mastering Your Power of Release,’ and in ‘7 Days Away From Powerfully Positive Living.’
Changing your thinking, particularly as it relates to releasing those things that need to be released in your life, is what we’ll be discussing during a free teleseminar that I’m hosting very soon (would have been sooner, but my laptop died and my new one is supposed to be here tomorrow). I’ll have more info coming about that teleseminar next week.
And changing your thinking is one of the keys taught in a brand new in-home retreat that I’m planning to offer, complete with teaching teleseminars, unlimited email coaching, and one-on-one personal telephone consultation (that’s a very rare offering for me these days because of time constraints). Expect an announcement about this very soon.
In the meantime, go to itunes and download “Change Your Mind” by Sister Hazel. Google the lyrics and read them, particularly the chorus. Don’t ignore the truth in these words just because this happens to be a pop song. Believe me, whoever wrote these lyrics is a genius, because the secret to changing anything is to change your mind.

I’ve not heard of that song… or for that matter, of Sister Hazel.
We hear from so many different people in so many different ways that the way to change our life is to change our thoughts… and yet how many people actually listen and apply this wisdom and universal truth!??
I wonder if we hear the same message often enough will it eventually sink in?

Hi Buz,
In this article, you have said it all my friend, beautifully and to the point. Change your mind, and you change your life!
As always, Buz, thank you, and blessings to you and your family,
Todd
Thanks for all of the warm and wonderful comments. And, Jeanne, once you check out Sister Hazel, let me know what you think.

Music is a huge inspiration for me. I first heard this song in the Brendan Fraser/Elizabeth Hurley movie “Bedazzled” and loved it. I have a CD mix that I made called “Morning Songs” that inspire me and “Change Your Mind” is the very first song. I like this song so much that I bought some more Sister Hazel CDs. Their music & lyrics are upbeat and happy.
Other songs in my Morning Mix include “Standing Outside the Fire” by Garth Brooks, “Life’s a Dance” by John Michael Montgomery, “Why Walk When You Can Fly” by Mary Chapin Carpenter, “Man in the Mirror” by Michael Jackson, “The World’s Greatest” by R. Kelly, “My Next Thirty Years” by Tim McGraw, “Born to Fly” by Sara Evans, “It’s a Great Day to Be Alive” by Travis Tritt, “No Day but Today” from Rent, “Life is Good” by Kenny Chesney, “I Believe I Can Fly” by R. Kelly, “Who I Am” by Jessica Andrews, “Dancing with the Mountains” by John Denver, “Top of the World” by the Carpenters, “If you Want to Sing Out, Sing Out” & “Oh Very Young” by Cat Stevens, “I Can See Clearly Now” by Jimmy Cliff, “Dancing With the Mountains” by John Denver, “Feeling Good Again” by Robert Earl Keen, “I Believe that Love is the Answer” by Blessed Union of Souls, “I’m Sitting on Top of the World” & “There’s a Rainbow ‘Round My Shoulders” by Al Jolson, “Daydream” by Lovin’ Spoonful, “Independence Day” by Imani Coppola, “Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor, “Don’t Stop Me Now” by Queen, “Affirmation” by Savage Garden, “Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World” by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole, “Live Like You Were Dying” by Tim McGraw, “You Gotta Be” by Des’ree, “When You Believe” by Mariah Carey/Whitney Houston, “I’m Alive” by Celine Dion, “One Day More” from Les Miserables, “Return to Innocence” by Enigma, “Fly On The Wings Of Love” by Annia, “Shine All Your Light” by Amy Grant, “Believe in You” by Amanda Marshall, “I’m in a Hurry” by Alabama, “I’m On My Way” by The Proclaimers – there’s more but I’ve got to get back to work.
I also have a mix I call “Songs That Make Me Smile” – these are just songs I like a lot or that bring up good memories for me.
Well said, Buz.
Once we can allow ourselves to “BE OURSELVES” and stop worrying about whether other people like the “Real Me” then Miracles really do unfold.
Sometimes we are our own worst enemy and our worst critic. Someone once said to me “If you criticised your friends like you criticise yourself, how many friends would you have left?” (er, probably not many!)
Change your Mind, and allow yourself to SHINE as the beautiful human being that you are!
With abundant blessings.

Karen,
What a great mix of songs. You’ve inspired me to create my own inspirational mix.
Thanks very much!
And Amanda, thanks for your words of wisdom. They are ALWAYS welcome!

Hello my friend…
Very well said ~ I do agree with you and believe that we are our own worst cynics. We hold ourselves back when thinking self defeating thoughts, such as: I might not get that job, I might not be good enough for her / him, I never do anything right.
HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT? IF YOU NEVER TRY, YOU’LL NEVER KNOW!
Once a person realizes the freedom that the power of release gives, life will never be the same. My eyes have been opened, my life and spirit have been lifted all thanks to a few dear friends.
With Gratitude,
Stephen
