I agree with what you saying.

I have learned two sayings in life that
I always remember. They are:

1. If you think you can.....You can, and
if you think you can't....You are probably right!

2. Act now - Revise later!

If you just follow these rules you will undoubtedly
succeed and in the shortest possible time.

Hi Buz,

This is a great post, I'm glad you broke your 12 week silence! What came to mind for me as I read it was a recent feedblitz from Seth Godin about an idea he called N-1. We all have pretty long "to-do" lists these days, and most of us - I now that I am - are always seeking ways to squeeze in just one more thing... that's N+1. But then he asks, what if we choose to pull one thing off of the list... that's N-1.

So... what do I think I cannot do? I think I can't pare down my list. I shudder at the thought of just saying to heck with it, I'll just go take a nap. If I do, I'll look bad, or will disappoint others, or the next door won't open for me.

Victoria and I were just talking about this, and she said that we are all so busy nowadays that we miss the finer and simpler joys in life... there are rainbows that we don't see, birds that we don't hear sing, and loved ones that we don't even notice when they walked into the room. Wow.

Dang, Buz, you've just given me more work to do... Or, rather... you've just urged me to see if I would be OK doing less.

Thank you my friend.

Blessings,

Todd

Buz, it's good to see you back from your blogging hiatus! And those are timely thoughts on a important topic. Too often, goals or concerns seem too big to us, but that first step breaks the inertia -- as you said, it's a "platform" for future steps.

Hang in there!

Hi Buz- Timing is everything. Sometimes the "time" isn't right, then suddenly it is. Failing to act at that point can bring much suffering, but it's good to trust what ever happens!

Buz,

Thanks very much for your encouraging reply -- and sorry this acknowledgement is a mere two years, four and half months later! (Your page / my comment, totally forgotten, rediscovered via an idle Google search to see if there was anything I'd left on the web intended for limited consumption, on sites whose privacy policy had since changed.)

No, I'm not blogging -- yet -- but periodically think about it, so I really appreciate your response: thank you. And blogging might be a better answer to my sporadic outpourings than to deluge my few longsuffering friends! However, the issue of perfectionism is one that has dogged me for so long that there was a lot to say about it. I should also have said that there are times when it is a real problem: but I've always thought too that one's greatest strengths in some situations too often turn out to be one's greatest weaknesses in others. No-one is perfect!

Hi Buz,

Great article. We always have opportunities in front of us and decisions to make. One of mine today was to read your article, another was to post a reply to it.

A game we play during some of our trainings and retreats is, "What is the why behind the decision?"

That's where the fun begins!

Behind my decision is a wanting to give back to you, and a wanting to give to your readers too. Good people, sharing with good people.

Be well Buz!

Mr Twenty Twenty
Whooo yah!

Hi Buz,

This is an excellent post. You are absolutely right, we are always facing a choice, even when we think we can ignore or postpone it.

And what I like the best about all of this is that, even after I've made a bad choice - and I've made my share! - I still have the opportunity for yet another choice. This time, the choice to lift myself back up by my bootstraps, and get it right.

Blessings,

Todd
