Just Breathe

Okay.

The election is over, so everyone just take a minute to breathe. What are your hopes after this historic outcome?

My hope is that the personal acrimony I’ve seen from both sides will stop. Right now. I’ve never seen a more polarizing election.

I’ve heard friends who were against Obama spout some of the most outlandish ‘facts’ that I’ve ever heard. I’ve heard friends who were against McCain say some of the most hate-filled things I’ve ever heard. These are just men, that’s all – flesh and blood like me and you.

Some of Mr. Obama’s support has taken on an almost religious, cult-like attitude. Now that he has won, we will NOT see the dawning of the Age of Aquarius.

By the same token, much of his opposition has also attacked him with religious fervor. I assure you that we have not just elected the anti-Christ.

Both sides have been deifying and demonizing the other side. And that has got to stop.

This is a good lesson for all to remember. The people who govern us are just people. They are not larger than life. They do not possess super-human qualities. They are just people, like you and me.

They have highs and lows. They have certainties and insecurities. They have successes and failures. They are human, not demons and not divine.

They want to make a good living and have friends and be loved and enjoy fuilfilling work and make a difference. And that’s exactly what I want to do. I would guess that’s what you want to do, too.

So, if you are tempted to think (after this election) that all of our worries are over or that the worst thing in the world has just happened, let me assure you that neither is true.

You need to simply keep on working on you and trust that God and this Universe are loving and friendly toward your personal development.

No matter where you stood in this election, just get on with your own personal development and know that expanding your development is the BEST way to assure that everything is going to be alright.

Well said, Buz. I was in tears watching some very amicable relationships crash and burn on Twitter. Diversity is what makes us strong – or should. It shouldn’t make us loathe one another. Isn’t that what democracy and equality are all about?

I agree, and for my pennorth worth, I agree with Buz, the deifying and demonising must stop, I like Buz’s calm attitude.

I personally believe that the celebration and waves of hope and euphoria that went round the states were great, it made people believe that there was hope and all was really well. Ultimately if we all believed that, then it would be (and will), but if it takes an event like this to trigger it, I am all for it.

Hi Buz,

Fabulous post mate! I personally believe that we get the leaders we need, so we can do the growth we need to do. And that they are appointed by God for that purpose.

So I vote, my “ego” and “mind” have their preferences, but when it’s all done, I choose to grow, discover more about “me”, and define what I want to do in my world.

I am glad the election is over, and hope that some of “the damage done” in the moments of passion can be forgiven, healed and used as opportunities for growth.

Hugs to you my friend,

Twenty Twenty

Thanks Buz for this. I am happy to see it. Very refreshing after hearing it from both sides, negativity that is, from people I respect. I am still dusting off bruised feelings from all of that. We move forward, as Mr 20/20 says, with our own growth and find where best to fit our own brand of love and good will into the universe.

Peace to you my friend!

Hi Buz,
I like your post so much.
It’s so full of wisdom and once agin I perfectly agree about all you say.
The same happened in Italy not much time ago, when we elected our current government.
Now many people who demonized the winner are realizing that (even if they find it hard to admit) after all he’s really doing many good things for us and he’s not the Devil, as well as those who elected him are realizing that he’s far from perfection…but he’s fine and believes in what he’s doing.
I wish this will be a very good Government for you guys in the US and in any case if you don’t like it you will be able to change next time: democracy is a wonderful thing, even if sometimes we take it for granted…
All the best,
Alessandra

Well said, Buz! Your postings are always well thought-through and right along my way of thinking.

I just hope that after the euphoria is over, we will come together as a nation to move forward und upward. Although we do need checks and balances along with the differing opinions that come with that, I trust that the new leadership with support the creating of a more conscious and harmonious society. I am banking on it!

Keep the good posts coming!

Having listened to all the post election rhetoric – I have to say…..Buz – this is the most healing and positive post I have involved myself in . I am a Canadian so I have unique interest in the outcome. Evidently our respective Leaders have had a ‘warm conversation’ and wish to deal amicably with one another. I am so for that!!

Let’s give them the opportunity to make things work!

Well said. I know that what it takes to move forward is to deeply delve into the self. Just love everything that is and all will be well. All is already perfect all the time. There is nothing needed except love. I am so grateful to be alive and on the plant.

Love to every being

I’ve followed this campaign actively for over a year and the moment it was over, my computer promptly crashed, and suddenly I seized the opportunity, and took a news fast.

And bought a new laptop!!

And what a relief!!

All is well.

And I will celebrate for the next eight years!! And for a long time thereafter.

Hi Buz,
I have been in a place of great personal challenge with the illness and then the passing of a close family member…someone I love very much. As I was caring for her 24/7, I just did not the energy to put into the election. I can’t tell you what all of the issues were. Seems like just about everyone I know was canvassing for his/her candidate. When asked who I was voting for, I’d reply that I would know when I got to the voting booth… That I felt like my place in this election is to hold a space for the perfect and best outcome for our country. And that is what I have done. I feel very uncomfortable with all of the anger and hatred and back stabbing political efforts. I do not wish to be a part of that. So I am just staying (still) in a place of peace and hope and love for our country and for its elected officials. I’m with you. Let’s just get on with it and forget all of the crap.
